What is SafeWalk?
SafeWalk is a mobile app that helps you find the safest walking routes using real-time incident data, street lighting analysis, and community reports. It also includes safety features like Safety Circles, SOS alerts, and Follow Me live tracking.
Is SafeWalk free?
Yes! Core safety features are free forever. Premium features like the safety heatmap, unlimited saved routes, and full walk history are available with an optional subscription.
Where is SafeWalk available?
SafeWalk currently covers major cities in Greece, with more regions being added regularly. The app works anywhere, but safety data coverage varies by location.
What platforms does SafeWalk support?
SafeWalk is available on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play).

Safety Features

How does SafeWalk determine the safest route?
SafeWalk analyzes multiple data sources including street lighting density, historical incident reports, pedestrian-friendly street attributes, and community reports to score and rank walking routes. The safest route may not be the shortest, but it prioritizes your security.
What are Safety Circles?
Safety Circles let you share your live location with trusted friends and family while you walk. Circle members can see your position in real time and get notified if you trigger an SOS alert.
How does the SOS feature work?
One tap on the SOS button sends an immediate alert to all members of your Safety Circle with your exact location. You can also configure it to call emergency services.
What are Safe Stops?
Safe Stops are verified safe locations near you — pharmacies, police stations, hospitals, and community-designated safe spaces — where you can go if you feel unsafe.
Does SafeWalk guarantee my safety?
No. SafeWalk is a decision-support tool that helps you make more informed choices about your walking route. It does not guarantee safety. Always stay aware of your surroundings and contact emergency services (112 in the EU) if you are in danger.

Privacy & Data

Does SafeWalk track my location?
SafeWalk only accesses your location when you are actively using the app or have an active Follow Me session. You control location permissions through your device settings. We never track you in the background without your explicit action.
Who can see my location?
Your location is only visible to people you explicitly invite to your Safety Circle, and only during active sharing sessions. SafeWalk staff cannot see individual user locations.
Does SafeWalk sell my data?
No. We never sell your personal data to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can delete your account from the app settings or by contacting anadelta.greece@gmail.com. All your personal data will be deleted within 30 days.
Is SafeWalk GDPR compliant?
Yes. SafeWalk is built to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). See our GDPR page for detailed information about your data rights.

Subscriptions

What do I get with Premium?
Premium unlocks the safety heatmap, unlimited saved routes, full walk history, multiple Safety Circles, larger circle sizes, and upcoming features like predictive safety alerts and offline maps.
How do I subscribe?
Open the Premium tab in the app and choose Monthly or Annual. Payments are processed securely through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can manage or cancel your subscription through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) subscription settings, or through the app's Manage Subscription option.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. Contact App Store or Google Play support for refund requests.
Will I lose my data if I downgrade?
No. Your data (saved routes, walk history, circles) is preserved. You may lose access to view some of it under free tier limits, but nothing is deleted. If you re-subscribe, everything is accessible again.

Technical

Why does SafeWalk need location permissions?
Location is essential for showing your position on the map, calculating routes, displaying nearby incidents and safe stops, and enabling Safety Circle location sharing.
Does SafeWalk work offline?
SafeWalk requires an internet connection for route planning and real-time incident data. Offline maps are planned for a future Premium update.
The app isn't showing incidents in my area. Why?
Incident data depends on community reports and our data sources. If your area is new to SafeWalk, there may be limited data. You can help by reporting incidents you encounter.
How do I report a bug?
Contact us at anadelta.greece@gmail.com with a description of the issue, your device model, and OS version. Screenshots are helpful.
