2.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, and profile photo when you create an account.
- Emergency contacts: Names, phone numbers, and email addresses of people you designate as emergency contacts. This data is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM.
- Incident reports: Description, location, and optional photos when you report a safety incident.
- Safe stop requests: Information you provide when suggesting new safe stops.
- Support communications: Messages you send to our support team.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: With your permission, we collect your precise location to provide route planning and nearby incident alerts. Location is only accessed while the app is in use or during active "Follow Me" sessions.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
- Usage data: Features used, routes requested, and app interactions.
- Push notification tokens: To send you safety alerts and updates.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Authentication providers: If you sign in with Apple, Google, or LinkedIn, we receive your name and email as permitted by those services.
- Payment processors: Apple App Store and Google Play handle payments. We do not store credit card information.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
- Calculate safe walking routes based on lighting, incident history, and street attributes.
- Display relevant safety information and incidents near your location.
- Enable safety features such as Safety Circles, Follow Me, and SOS alerts.
- Send push notifications for safety alerts and account updates.
- Process subscriptions and manage your account.
- Respond to your support requests.
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and abuse.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these limited cases:
- Safety Circles: Your location is shared only with people you explicitly invite to your circle, and only during active sessions.
- Incident reports: Reports are shared anonymously with other users in the area.
- Service providers: We use trusted third-party services for hosting, analytics, email, and payment processing. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
- Mapping services: We use Google Maps Platform to display maps and calculate routes. Your location data may be transmitted to Google when using map features. Google's privacy policy applies.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
- Safety: We may share information when we believe it is necessary to protect the safety of our users or the public.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Specific retention periods:
- Account data: Retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
- Walk history: Start/end points, distance, and duration are retained for up to 12 months, then automatically deleted.
- Incident reports: Retained for up to 24 months for community safety analysis, then anonymized or deleted.
- SOS alerts: Resolved or cancelled alerts are deleted after 90 days.
- Security audit logs: Retained for 365 days for legal accountability and security purposes.
- Technical/application logs: Retained for 90 days for debugging purposes.
- Emergency contacts: Retained while your account is active; deleted immediately upon account deletion.

6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256-GCM), secure authentication, and regular security audits. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
